England bowl first under cloudy skies in Cardiff

Still no Lewis for West Indies as Hope calls on team to play smarter cricket

England won the toss and chose to bowl vs West Indies

Fresh from their dominant display with the bat at Edgbaston, England have chosen to let the ball do the talking in the second ODI, with Harry Brook choosing to bowl first under cloudy but dry skies in Cardiff.

"It looks like there's a bit of live grass, so hopefully we get a bit out of the pitch early on," Brook said, as he confirmed a solitary enforced change to the XI that cruised to a 238-run win in that series opener at Edgbaston.

Jamie Overton has been ruled out of the rest of the white-ball campaign after breaking his right little finger while dropping a return catch in his first over. He has been replaced by Matthew Potts, who had been named in every England squad across formats so far this summer, without yet making a start.

"Potts is banging on the door in all three squads, but a shame Jamie has gone down," Brook said. "But that's a part of professional cricket. We were dominant, the tempo we batted at was awesome. We want to keep smashing away, and be more ruthless."

Shai Hope said it "didn't really matter" what he would have chosen to do, as he also named a solitary change to his team. Shimron Hetmyer returns in place of Amir Jangoo, with Jewel Andrew carded to open alongside Brandon King.

The notable absentee is Evin Lewis, who is still not fit after suffering a blow to the groin before the first match.

"It's a slight concern but these things happen," Hope said. "We hope he can get better soon.

"It's a three-match series, so we need to turn it around, and come out positive. We have to be smarter, got to find a way. We are ready to go today."
